Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable DOT Inspection Technician / Light-Duty Truck Mechanic to perform vehicle safety inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and mechanical repairs on tractors and trailers. 

The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of DOT inspection requirements, and the ability to diagnose and repair vehicle issues while maintaining compliance with applicable safety regulations.

We do not perform any work on engines

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform DOT annual inspections and vehicle safety inspections.
• Inspect brakes, tires, steering, suspension, lighting, and other safety-related components.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine tractor servicing
• Identify mechanical deficiencies and recommend corrective repairs.
• Complete inspection reports, maintenance records, and repair documentation.
• Ensure vehicles meet applicable DOT and FMCSA safety requirements.
• Maintain shop equipment, tools, and a clean working environment.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in truck, tractor and trailer repair.
• Knowledge of DOT inspection procedures and FMCSA regulations.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
• Experience with brakes, suspension, and airbags.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and shop tools.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• DOT inspection experience or applicable inspector qualifications.
• Experience working on fleet vehicles and light-duty diesel trucks.
• Preventative maintenance experience.
• CDL preferred but not required.

• Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming.
• Mix and apply paints, primers, sealers, and coatings according to manufacturer specifications.
• Operate and maintain paint booth equipment, spray guns, ventilation systems, and related tools.
• Paint vehicles, equipment, parts, and components as assigned by the service department.
• Inspect completed work for proper coverage, color match, finish, and overall quality.
• Perform touch-ups, refinishing, and corrective painting as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the paint booth and surrounding work areas.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of respirators and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Properly handle, store, and dispose of paints, solvents, and hazardous materials.
• Monitor paint and supply inventory and communicate replenishment needs.
• Coordinate with service technicians and management to meet job schedules and deadlines.
• Follow company policies, environmental regulations, and OSHA safety requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous automotive, industrial, or equipment painting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of paint preparation, mixing, spraying, and finishing techniques.
• Ability to operate spray guns and paint booth equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a service team.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic knowledge of paint booth safety and hazardous material handling.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Ability to work in a paint booth environment while wearing required protective equipment.
• Ability to safely handle painting materials, tools, and equipment.
